About the project

About Bay Pump Track

Bay Pump Track is an early-stage idea for a community pump track that could support active outdoor recreation for children, young people and families around Bolton-le-Sands, Hest Bank and the Bay.

What is a pump track?

A pump track is a compact loop of rollers, berms and gentle turns that riders move around by shifting body weight as well as pedalling or pushing. Tracks are commonly used by bikes, scooters and other suitable wheeled users.

Good design matters. The aim would be a facility that feels welcoming, manageable and inclusive rather than intimidating or extreme-sport focused.

What the project is trying to explore

Active outdoor recreation

A local place where children, young people and families can build confidence, fitness and skills outdoors.

Community-minded design

A facility shaped around local feedback, safety, accessibility, ongoing care and the character of the Bay.

Partnership potential

A project identity that can involve neighbouring communities, councils, funders, businesses and voluntary support.

Current stage

Early feasibility, design and funding exploration

The project is not yet approved, funded or ready for delivery. Work is focused on understanding whether a suitable proposal can be developed, what permissions and agreements would be needed, how the facility could be insured and governed, and whether funding routes are realistic.
